Consistent Home Searching Has Benefits
In my last entry I stated “Consistently searching for a home will not only help us find a home, but help us become better at finding homes”. In this entry I will elaborate on what I meant by that.
As you activly look for a home several things naturally occur:
- You begin to understand the market value of homes in your area and can start to compare one home to another in order to identify potential good deals.
- You learn to spot defects or problems in homes.
- You identify features of homes that you must have, and problems that you must do without.
- You can identify styles, floorplans, builders or neighborhoods that you particularly like and don’t have to spend time looking at homes that don’t fit with your tastes.
- As you spend more time with your realtor, you gain valuable information such as a deeper about the home buying process, trends in the neighborhoods you are investigating, likely issues or benefits in the areas or with the builders you are considering.
There are many other things besides these that I have mentioned which can occur as you consistently search for a home, however one certain benefit is you gain a deeper understanding of what type of a home you are looking for and are better equipped to identify one when you come across it.
